Kanto’s TUK speakers have many controls settings such as EQ pre-sets to allow you to adjust the sound when different devices are plugged into the speakers.
As an indirect result, the manufacturer can also save some money, since the amplifier is easier to make which, in turn, allows them to design a better amplifier and/or use better speaker drivers.Not that the YU6 lacks this feature, but the AMT Driven TUK makes a noticeable improvement (enough that I may have to try to trade in my 6s for the TUK! In my experience, connected to my Pixel 4 as opposed to through TOSLINK (utilising its internal DAC/AMP), Apt-X provided low enough latency to enjoy video content with minimal lip sync and range was easily adequate in my large room, with a rock-solid connection from a 10m line of sight distance. TUK - Matte White use AMT tweeters which are incredibly lightweight, allowing them to react faster than standard dome tweeters.
Not in your face, but through the TUK the air around it brought it to a point just lightly under the vocals. The front of the TUK speakers feature an array of five lights, to indicate when a connection is in use. The automatic 80Hz roll off that occurs when mated to the SUB8 allows the system to work as a single unit, and balances the presentation nicely. Similarly, the output impedance is very low as they did not skew the signature of the low-impedance CFA Andromeda notably compared to the 1-ohm THX amp.
Kicking our listening off with Bluetooth, we cue up Tidal’s Retroactive playlist on our iPad and find the youthful choir at the outset of The Rolling Stones’ You Can’t Always Get What You Want clear, tonally convincing, spacious and with a healthy dollop of detail. connectivity, with Qualcomm AptX HD and AAC codec support, so you can listen to your devices, such as phones, tablets and computers, wirelessly at an audiophile grade. Throw on some vinyl, add in a pair of your favorite headphones, and bask in the simplicity of your setup.
That is an awesome recipe for the future, and the really good news it is an even better recipe for the here and now if you need a small system that is simple and easy to live with, giving you 80% of a system costing 100 times more! Along with Optical and RCA inputs, TUK includes an independent phono input for your turntable, a USB DAC, a dedicated headphone amp, and Bluetooth 4.
This buoyant ballet opens with pounding timpani that lead to a brilliant brass fanfare, followed by raucous castanets interrupted by resounding handclaps and shouts. The remote is also much higher quality than that included with Kanto’s former models, more on that below. She has such an incredible control of the volume and slam of her voice, and uses it to tear through the listener. The rather jazz oriented groove of the song displays his exceptional control of tone and temperance in playing. Quick, dynamic transients have more impact and accuracy, and TUK can play louder without introducing additional distortion.
