About this deal

I Let You Go grabbed me by the lapels and pulled me into a suspenseful, fast-paced mystery with tight twists that had me paging backwards a couple of times to truly keep up.

Hers is a perspective laden with emotion, a broken woman who walks out of her home, out of her life, to the comforts of the unknown, to forget the sounds and sights that haunt her every minute. Slowly, the two storylines begin to merge and what is revealed projects the narrative into the stratosphere. The wooden shelves are all empty, my desk swept clear of work, and the tiny figurines on the window ledge are unrecognizable, crushed into shards that glisten in the sunlight.

He leaps one foot in front of the other chasing that promise into the street and into an oncoming car. Reading a little about the author and her background in the police force for many years, this story germinated from an actual real life hit and run accident of a nine year old boy. While reading this scene and immediately after, it got my mind ticking over about my son’s road sense and my own responsibility as a mum in negotiating crossing roads with my son.

If your book club is discussing I LET YOU GO, please don’t just circulate the link – there will always be one or two who haven’t read the book yet! My hands are shaking and I put down my untouched tea before I drop it, but I clatter the china against the glass tabletop.Jenna is a character who is clearly flawed, but I felt drawn to her and her subsequent healing process. Using the same words at the end of I LET YOU GO is a gentle reminder that, although it is Jenna’s story we have followed throughout this novel, at its heart is a five year old boy who lost his life. I love connecting with my readers, and there are plenty of ways you can get a sneak peek at what's going on behind the scenes.
