This kit is designed to replace the metal cage kit that is usually supplied with your new aftermarket double din head-unit or navigation system. Alpine doesn’t supply any form of mounting hardware for its Double DIN head units so our Double DIN mounting kit provides everything you need to install an Alpine (or any other Double DIN head-unit that doesn't come with a DIN cage) into any MUD Console. To summarise this unit appears to be a good unit and all my issues are being sorted out, so when the new one arrives I shall be updating the media software and the SatNav software before touching anything else. China units have a reputation to be over sized and may require modification to the fascia to allow it to fit.

Universal Double Din Fascia Plate Kit

I had fed speaker cables from the boot to the front in anticipation of replacing the door speakers and feeding them from my 4 channel amp, but I don't think that will be necessary.

This interface converts the high level audio output of a new head unit to a low level pre amplified signal which will work with an amplifier. 4 adjustable channels for optimum audio quality, it has a built in ground loop isolator and filters to get the best sound from the amplifier. The Double DIN Mounting kit contains a pair of spring clips and a pair of flat plates in addition to the traditional mounting ‘cage’ and outer trim bezel for the fascia. The spring-clips are sandwiched to either side of the head unit using the flat plates. Screw fixings are supplied. The head-unit will now slide into place within the mounting cage and locate with the spring clips. See the 'Resources' section below if you need more information on how to build the DIN Cage. The outer bezel trim snaps into place around the head unit screen.
